"Do you want to hear a country song?"
(I wouldn't usually but this is great)
Elliott Smiths live, fun (his laugh is so cute:) cover of Hank Williams Jrs song : "All my rowdy friends have settled down". (1998 - at Largo)
He did loads of other incredible covers in his time (some were one off's) including Chelsea Girls and These Days (Nico, Jackson Browne), Jealous Guy (Lennon), Isn't it a pity (Harrison), heaps of Beatles, Care of Cell 44 (Zombies), Supersonic (Oasis) and the list goes on.

I am still on my Elliott Smith binge, cant stop listening to him its madness, ahh, seriously though, he was an extremely talented guy. I really wish I could of had the pleasure to see him perform live (did you get the chance?) he was an incredible soulful singer, underrated guitarist (he also rocked it out on the drums, piano, bass guitar, harmonica and clarinet) and has got to be one of the best lyricist's ever, although Elliott would of probably not agreed with that, you can just listen to one of his original songs and you'll most likely agree... When I first heard his music it blew me away I hadn't heard anything quite like it, and then I found out he was dead, I wept like a baby while listening to it, which is intense I am not really a crier. Most of his songs I guess are about his struggles with alcohol and drugs as most people suggest, but whatever he used as a vehicle to write such beautiful tunes doesn't really matter, a lot of his songs are pretty open for interpretation.
Almost Over (New Moon, 2007 - Compilation of Tracks Recorded 94-97) I don't know how it didn't make any of his albums, there's so much in this 2-min song that today would be hard to come across, I especially love the guitar in this, makes me want to learn how to play!. funny note: I thought when I first heard this the lyric was "Black Guys always watch the Clock" and for ages I wondering what that was about :s but I looked it up its "Black Eyes watch the clock" haha "red face on my part" lol
